Ron Koltnow had been a publisher’s sales rep for close to 30 years, first with the Putnam Publishing Group and subsequently Random House. He has worked as a front-line bookseller and as supervisor of a customer service department for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of the National Capital Area. He has experience with retail booksellers, from small, specialized gift shops to large regional chains, and with wholesale accounts. In recent years, Ron had been participating with Random’s academic marketing department at the First Year Experience and other conferences. At Random House, Ron chaired the Rep Committee and twice received the Outstanding Achievement in Marketing Award. He is co-recipient of The New England Independent Booksellers Association’s Saul Gilman Award for excellence in service, and was Publisher’s Weekly Rep of the Year in 2010. His articles and reviews have appeared in The ARSC Journal, Washington, DC’s The City Paper, Magill’s Survey of Foreign Film and Magill’s Cinema Annual. Koltnow has spoken to library groups, mystery readers, and the general book-loving community. He is semi-retired in Boston, where he indulges his joint passions for mystery fiction and American History.
